DATUK DR. M. JEGATHESAN

DPMP, AMN, KMN, JSM, PJK)
M Jegathesan
is a well accomplished and a well-known personality, both
in the field of sports and in medicine.
In
sports, his many achievements on the track have earned him
many reputations; ‘Fastest Man in Asia’, ‘Flying
Doctor’, ‘First Malaysian Sportsman Of The Year’
(1966), First Malaysian In The Olympic Semi-Final (Tokyo
and Mexico) and ‘Holder Of The Unbroken Record In
The 200M Track’.
In
the field of medicine, his accomplishments are equally difficult
to match. He was the holder of the coveted National Science
Award, Founding Fellow in the Academy of Science; and was
the former Deputy Director-General in the Ministry Of Health.
Today,
M Jegathesan still plays a big role; coaching, consulting,
teaching and simply sharing his skills, experiences, knowledge
as well as his philosophy and values in the fields of medicine
and sports with both individuals and organizations at conferences,
seminars and workshops both locally and internationally;
with the purpose of making the world an even better place
in terms of progress, achievements and happiness.
In
the academic field, he contributes through the Adjunct Professorships
he holds at the University Of Putra for health sciences,
and at the University Of Malaya for sports science.
He
has and is still providing leadership in sports excellence
through key positions he holds in the Executive Committee
of almost all sports Associations in Malaysia. Most notable
of them are his positions as the Deputy President of the
Olympic Council of Malaysia, Honorary Medical Adviser, Commonwealth
Games Federation and Member of the Medical Committee of
the IAAF.
